About Suomenlinna in Winter, Helsinki

In winter the sea around Helsinki often freezes, and Suomenlinna's ferry pushes through the ice to keep the islands connected all year. The fortress was designed with low walls of granite and earth that follow the shape of the rocky islands, and its bastions held hundreds of cannon. Inside the walls are a dry dock still used to repair wooden ships, a church that doubles as a lighthouse, museums and cafés. In summer the islands are a favourite picnic spot for people from Helsinki. In this photo snow lies on the old walls, and the sea in front is covered with cracked ice.

Puzzle tip: start with the stone walls and the light on them; the icy water in front has many similar pieces.
