About Red Buildings of Dutch Square, Malacca

Malacca, on the strait that bears its name, was one of the great trading ports of Asia, where ships from China, India and Arabia met. The Portuguese captured it in 1511, the Dutch in 1641 and the British in the 19th century, and each left their mark. Around Dutch Square stand the Stadthuys, the Dutch town hall built around 1650, and Christ Church, finished in 1753, both painted a deep red. Together with George Town in Penang, Malacca has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2008. In this photo the red colonial buildings line a wide street with cars and visitors.

Puzzle tip: the red buildings give you a clear base; the cars and the street in front come next.
