About Thatched Hut at the End of a Pier, Kaolack

Kaolack, in central Senegal, stands on the Saloum River, which is so close to sea level that tides push salty water far inland. The town grew as a market for the groundnuts grown on the surrounding plains and is still one of the country's main centres for salt, which is harvested in wide pans along the river. Downstream, the Saloum flows into a delta of mangroves, creeks and islands that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In this photo a long wooden pier leads across the green water to a round hut with a thatched roof.

Puzzle tip: follow the lines of the pier to the hut; the water and the sky are wide, even areas.
