About Stone Columns of Ancient Polonnaruwa

Polonnaruwa became the capital of Sri Lanka in the eleventh century, after Anuradhapura was abandoned, and reached its height under King Parakramabahu I in the twelfth century. He built palaces, temples, hospitals and the huge Parakrama Samudra reservoir, the 'Sea of Parakrama', which still waters the rice fields today. The ruins of the ancient city spread over several kilometres beside the lake and have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1982. This photo shows rows of stone columns from one of the city's old halls, standing on a sunny day.

Puzzle tip: start with the tall stone columns, then fill the ground between them and the trees and sky behind.
