About Santa Croce above the Rooftops, Florence

Santa Croce is a Franciscan basilica on the eastern side of Florence's historic centre, surrounded by streets of terracotta roofs. Construction of the present church began in the late thirteenth century, while its marble front was added much later, in the nineteenth century. The church contains the tombs of Michelangelo and Galileo, linking it with both art and science. This elevated view shows the long church rising above nearby houses, with the Tuscan hills forming a soft backdrop beyond the city.

Puzzle tip: start with the long church roof and bell tower, then separate the nearby rooftops from the distant hills.
