About Church Ruins of Jesús de Tavarangue

Jesús de Tavarangue lies about ten kilometres from Trinidad. The mission's huge church was still being built when the Jesuits were expelled in 1767, and it was never finished, so it has no roof and some walls stop halfway up. Its doorways have unusual three-lobed arches, which some historians link to the Moorish styles of Spain. The church was meant to be one of the largest in the Jesuit missions, and the size of its walls still shows how grand it was planned to be. This photo shows its tall red stone walls and arched openings above a green lawn.

Puzzle tip: start with the arched doorways and the tall red walls, then the green lawn and the cloudy sky.
