About Alfama Rooftops, Lisbon

Alfama is the oldest district of Lisbon, a maze of steep lanes, stairways and small squares that tumbles down the hill from São Jorge Castle to the river. It largely survived the earthquake of 1755 because it stands on solid rock. Its red roofs, church towers and washing hung from windows make it one of the most charming parts of the city, especially when fado music drifts from its taverns.

Puzzle tip: the red rooftops look alike, so look for church towers and the river to find your way.
