About Sailing Canoe on Lake Nokoué

Lake Nokoué is a wide, shallow lagoon in southern Benin, between the cities of Cotonou and Porto-Novo, joined to the Atlantic Ocean by a channel at Cotonou. Its water is partly fresh and partly salty, depending on the season, and it feeds the thousands of fishing families who live on and around it. Small wooden canoes, some with patched sails, are still the main way to travel on the lake. This photo shows two people paddling a canoe with a sail past tall golden reeds.

Puzzle tip: start with the canoe and its sail, then the golden reeds, and the calm water and the sky last.
