About Canoes and Stilt Houses, Ganvié

In Ganvié the canoe is everything: children paddle to school, fishermen go out to their fish traps, and women sell fruit, vegetables and fish from boats at the floating market. The wooden canoes are dug out of single tree trunks or built from planks, and many carry a small sail. The houses stand on poles a few metres above the water, which rises in the rainy season. This photo shows canoes moored among the stilt houses in the middle of the village.

Puzzle tip: start with the colourful houses on their poles, then the canoes, and the water and the sky last.
