About Theatre of Leptis Magna

Leptis Magna, east of Tripoli, is one of the most complete Roman cities in the world. It flourished especially under the emperor Septimius Severus, who was born here in AD 145 and filled his home town with a new forum, a basilica, a harbour and a great arch. Sand covered much of the city for centuries, which helped to preserve it, and it is now a UNESCO World Heritage site. This photo shows the curved stone seats of its theatre, built in the year 1 or 2 AD.

Puzzle tip: start with the curved rows of stone seats, then the ruins around them, and the bushes and the sky last.
