About Libya
Phoenicians, Greeks and Romans built great cities along this coast, and three of them, Leptis Magna, Sabratha and Cyrene, are now UNESCO World Heritage sites. Later the land was ruled by Arab dynasties, the Ottoman Empire and Italy, and Libya became independent in 1951. Most Libyans live along the coast, around Tripoli and Benghazi.
You can put together the temples of Zeus and Demeter at Cyrene, the theatres of Sabratha and Leptis Magna, the old town of Ghadames from above and one of its squares, a rock arch in the Tadrart Acacus, Gaberoun Lake among the dunes and the Red Castle of Tripoli at sunset.
