About Camel Market in Keren

Every Monday Keren, in Eritrea, holds one of the liveliest livestock markets in the Horn of Africa. From early morning herders bring camels, cattle, goats, sheep and donkeys from the surrounding valleys and lowlands, and buyers inspect the animals and bargain loudly before shaking hands on a deal. Many of the traders wear white robes and turbans, and the market is also a place to meet friends and share news. This photo shows a group of camels resting in the dusty market ground.

Puzzle tip: start with the camels and their shadows, then the people and the trees, and the dusty ground last.
