About Bukchon Hanok Village, Seoul

Bukchon Hanok Village is a hillside neighbourhood between two royal palaces in Seoul, where hundreds of traditional wooden houses, called hanok, still line the narrow lanes. Most were built in the early 20th century, with curved tiled roofs, wooden beams and inner courtyards. People still live in many of them, so visitors are asked to walk quietly.

Puzzle tip: the tiled rooftops lead your eye up the lane; the sky and the hills come last.
