About Pothong Gate, Pyongyang

The Pothong Gate was once the western gate of the walled city of Pyongyang. A gate stood here from the time of the Koguryo kingdom, and the present one dates mostly from 1473. Badly damaged during the Korean War, it was restored in the 1950s. Its two-storey wooden pavilion rests on a massive stone base with a single arched passage.

Puzzle tip: the curved roof and the stone base make two clear parts; the sky comes last.
