About Al-Hashemi II, a Giant Wooden Dhow

Al-Hashemi II is said to be the largest wooden dhow ever built: about 80 metres long, with two tall masts. It was completed in Kuwait around the year 2000 and never went to sea; instead it stands on the shore beside a hotel south of Kuwait City and is used for meetings and events. It honours Kuwait's long tradition of shipbuilding. Before oil was found in 1938, Kuwaiti boatbuilders were famous across the Gulf, and their dhows carried trade to India and East Africa and took pearl divers out every summer.

Puzzle tip: the curved wooden hull is the clearest part; the masts and ropes against the sky come next.
