About Athabasca Falls, Jasper

Athabasca Falls is not the highest waterfall in the Rockies, at about 23 metres, but it is one of the most powerful. The whole Athabasca River pours over a ledge of hard quartzite and into a narrow gorge it has carved through softer limestone below. Old channels, now dry, show where the river once flowed, and visitors can walk through one of them. The falls lie just off the Icefields Parkway, about 30 kilometres south of Jasper. In this photo white water thunders past rocky cliffs and pine trees.

Puzzle tip: start with the white falling water, then the rocky cliffs, and finish with the trees and sky.
