About Boat on the Amazon River

The Amazon carries more water than any other river on Earth, about a fifth of all the fresh water that rivers pour into the oceans. In Peru, where it begins as the meeting of the Marañón and the Ucayali, it is already a wide, brown river, coloured by the silt it washes down from the Andes. For the towns and villages along its banks the river is the main road: there are few highways, and people, food and goods travel by boat. In this aerial photo a small boat leaves a long wake on the brown water between two walls of forest.

Puzzle tip: the brown river and the green forest divide the picture neatly; leave the soft clouds for last.
