About The Amazon River through the Rainforest, Peru

The Amazon rainforest covers about 5.5 million square kilometres in nine countries, and in 2011 it was chosen as one of the New7Wonders of Nature. More than half of it lies in Brazil, but Peru has the second largest share, and its forests reach from the eastern slopes of the Andes down to the river. Scientists think the forest holds about one in ten of all known species on Earth. Seen from above, as here, the river winds in wide bends, with mist rising from the trees on its banks.

Puzzle tip: follow the dark curve of the river first; the misty forest on the left and the clouds come last.
