About Bodiam Castle Reflected in Its Moat

Bodiam Castle in East Sussex, in south-east England, was built in 1385 by Sir Edward Dalyngrigge, a knight who had fought in the Hundred Years' War, when French raids on the coast were feared. Its four round corner towers and square walls rise straight out of a wide moat, so the only way in was over bridges. The outer walls still stand almost complete, but inside the castle is an empty shell, open to the sky. In this photo its dark towers and their reflection fill the still water, framed by bare branches.

Puzzle tip: the towers and their reflection make a mirror pattern; the bare branches come last.
