About Chain of Rocks Bridge, Mississippi River

The Chain of Rocks Bridge carried Route 66 across the Mississippi River between Illinois and Missouri, just north of St. Louis. Opened in 1929, it is about 1.6 kilometres long and has an unusual 22-degree bend in the middle, added so that river boats could pass safely. Closed to cars in 1970, it reopened in 1999 as a bridge for walkers and cyclists.

Puzzle tip: follow the green steel beams; the blue railing and the path are easy to spot.
