About Old Market Buildings of Al-Mubarakiya, Kuwait City

Kuwait City grew up in the 18th century as a small port on Kuwait Bay, founded by families who settled here from central Arabia. Its merchants and sailors traded with India, Iraq and East Africa, carrying dates, horses, spices and timber. To protect the town, walls were built around it, the last one in 1920; it was taken down in 1957 as the city spread, but some of its gates still stand. The buildings around Souq Al-Mubarakiya keep the old style of the Gulf, with arched windows, wooden doors and flat roofs.

Puzzle tip: the arched windows repeat along the facade, so use the corners and the sky to place them.
