About Chefchaouen, the Blue City

Chefchaouen lies in the Rif Mountains of northern Morocco and is famous for its houses painted in every shade of blue. The town was founded in 1471, and many say the blue was brought by Jewish refugees who settled here in the 1930s, as a colour of the sky and of heaven. Its steep medina is full of small squares, fountains and craft shops.

Puzzle tip: the blue houses and the mountains make two clear parts; the sky comes last.
