About Cliffs of Seongsan Ilchulbong, Jeju

From the land side, Seongsan Ilchulbong looks like a fortress of rock covered in grass. Its walls are layers of volcanic ash that have been cut into ridges and pillars by wind and waves, and a steep path with stairs leads to the crater rim in about twenty minutes. Many visitors climb in the dark to watch the sun rise over the sea, which gave the peak its name. Below the cliffs, Jeju's haenyeo, the women divers famous for collecting shellfish without breathing equipment, still show their work to visitors. In this photo the rock walls rise above a bright green meadow.

Puzzle tip: start with the dark ridges of rock; the smooth green meadow and the blue sky come at the end.
