About Jeongbang Waterfall, Jeju

Jeongbang Waterfall near Seogwipo is said to be the only waterfall in Asia that falls straight into the sea. The stream drops about 23 metres over a cliff of dark volcanic rock onto a beach of rounded boulders, and its spray drifts out over the waves. A legend says that more than two thousand years ago a Chinese emperor sent his servant to Jeju in search of the elixir of life, and the servant carved a message on the cliff here on his way home. In this photo the white falls pour down beside wooded cliffs, with boulders and blue sea in front.

Puzzle tip: the white ribbon of the waterfall is a clear landmark; the many grey boulders come last.
