About Coloured Lampshades over a Street, Szentendre

Szentendre is a small town on the Danube just north of Budapest, with narrow lanes, painted houses and church towers. In the late seventeenth century Serbian families fleeing the Ottoman wars settled here, and several Orthodox churches still stand among its houses. From the 1920s painters and sculptors came to work in the town, and it is still known as a town of artists, with many museums and galleries. In this street, rows of colourful lampshades hang on strings between the houses above the shops and cafés.

Puzzle tip: start with the bright lampshades against the sky; the shop fronts and the street below come after.
