About Houseboat on the Kerala Backwaters

The backwaters of Kerala are a maze of lagoons, lakes, rivers and canals that runs for hundreds of kilometres behind the coast of the Arabian Sea in south-west India. Villages, rice fields and coconut groves line the banks, and for many people a boat is still the easiest way to get around. The curved houseboats, called kettuvallam, were once barges that carried rice and spices to the ports; they were built of wooden planks tied together with coconut-fibre rope, without nails. Today many of them carry visitors instead, especially around the town of Alappuzha.

Puzzle tip: start with the houseboat and its round roof; the palms come next, and the green water and the sky are the last pieces.
