About Lake Coatepeque, El Salvador

Lake Coatepeque fills a large volcanic crater in western El Salvador, formed by huge eruptions tens of thousands of years ago. It is about 120 metres deep, and from time to time its water turns a striking turquoise because of minerals and tiny organisms. A small island, Teopán, rises near its eastern shore, and houses and jetties line the steep, green slopes around the water.

Puzzle tip: sort the turquoise water from the green slopes; the sky comes last.
