About Library of Celsus, Ephesus

Ephesus, on the Aegean coast of today's Turkey, was one of the greatest cities of the Roman Empire, and just outside it stood the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The city's most famous building today is the Library of Celsus, built around 117 AD by a Roman consul in memory of his father, who is buried beneath it. It once held about 12,000 scrolls. The two-storey front fell in an earthquake and was put back together by archaeologists in the 1970s. This photo shows its columns, statues and carved doorways in warm light.

Puzzle tip: the columns give you strong vertical lines to follow; the darker doorways and the sky come last.
