About Prince of Wales Hotel, Waterton

The Prince of Wales Hotel was built to attract American tourists travelling by rail to Glacier National Park, who were then brought north across the border by bus. Its tall, steep-roofed wooden building, with balconies and gables in a Swiss chalet style, was designed to stand up to the strong winds that sweep down Upper Waterton Lake; during construction the wind twice pushed the frame out of line. The hotel is a National Historic Site of Canada. In this photo the hotel's gables rise in front of the mountains.

Puzzle tip: start with the hotel's gables and windows, then the mountains behind, and finish with the sky.
