About Walls of Suomenlinna Sea Fortress, Helsinki

Suomenlinna is a sea fortress built on a group of islands at the entrance to Helsinki's harbour. Sweden, which then ruled Finland, began it in 1748 to defend its eastern lands against Russia, and called it Sveaborg. Russia captured it in 1808, and after Finland's independence it got its Finnish name, "the Castle of Finland". Today about 800 people live on the islands, which are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and a ferry from Market Square reaches them in about fifteen minutes. In this photo a boat passes the old stone walls, with green trees on top.

Puzzle tip: the grey stone walls and the green trees on top are the place to start; the clouds and water come last.
