About Winding Creek near Banjul

Banjul, the capital of the Gambia, stands on St Mary's Island at the mouth of the River Gambia, surrounded by water, mangroves and wetlands. Around the city, winding creeks snake through the green swamps, and the Tanbi Wetland Complex next to it is protected for its mangroves and birds; the Gambia is one of the best places in West Africa for birdwatching, with more than 500 species recorded. The country is often called the Smiling Coast of Africa for the friendliness of its people. This aerial photo shows a creek curving through dense green vegetation near Banjul.

Puzzle tip: start with the curving creek, then the darker patches of trees, and the even green areas last.
