About Zakopane below the Tatra Mountains

Zakopane lies at the foot of the Tatra Mountains, on Poland's southern border with Slovakia, and is often called the winter capital of Poland. The Tatras are the highest range of the Carpathians; on the Polish side their highest peak, Rysy, reaches 2,499 metres. In the late nineteenth century the town became popular with painters, writers and composers, and the architect Stanisław Witkiewicz created the Zakopane style, based on the wooden houses of the local highlanders. In autumn the meadows below the mountains turn gold and brown, while snow already lies on the peaks.

Puzzle tip: start with the snowy peaks; the golden meadows and the houses below fill in slowly, and the sky goes last.
