About Mountain Meadows of the Bieszczady

The Bieszczady are low mountains in the far south-eastern corner of Poland, where it meets Ukraine and Slovakia. Above the forests, their rounded ridges are covered with high grassy meadows called połoniny, which turn green in summer and gold and rust-red in autumn. After the Second World War many villages here were emptied, and the region is still one of the least populated in Poland. Bison, bears, wolves and lynx live in its forests, and Bieszczady National Park protects the highest ridges. The photo shows a ridge path under a sky full of clouds.

Puzzle tip: start with the bright ridge in the sunlight; the dark slopes and the cloudy sky take the most patience.
