About Isla Mujeres from Above

Isla Mujeres is a narrow island about seven kilometres long, just off Cancún in the Mexican Caribbean. Spanish sailors gave it its name, Island of Women, in the 16th century after finding statues of female figures there, probably linked to Ixchel, the Maya goddess of the moon. Its northern beach has calm, shallow turquoise water, while the southern tip ends in rocky cliffs.

Puzzle tip: the thin strip of land divides the picture; sort the water by its shades of turquoise and deep blue.
