About Mexico

Chichen Itza, in the Yucatán, is crowned by the pyramid of El Castillo; at the spring and autumn equinoxes, the setting sun casts a shadow on its steps that looks like a serpent slithering down. Tulum was one of the few Maya cities built beside the sea, and in the jungle of Palenque, the Temple of the Inscriptions held the tomb of the great king Pakal.

In the highlands, Guanajuato's houses are painted in every colour up the hillsides, and the pink spires of the Parroquia rise over San Miguel de Allende. In Mexico City, the Palacio de Bellas Artes is a palace of marble built for the arts.
