About this place ↓

About Arenal Volcano, Costa Rica

Arenal is an almost perfect cone about 1,670 metres high in northern Costa Rica. For centuries it was thought to be just a mountain, until a sudden eruption in 1968 buried two villages. It then erupted almost continuously until 2010, when it fell quiet. Today the rainforest around it is a national park, and the heat below the ground feeds the hot springs of the nearby town of La Fortuna.

Puzzle tip: the green cone and its clouds are the key; the forest below needs patience.
