Costa Rica is a small Central American country famous for its rainforests, volcanoes and beaches on two oceans. It abolished its army in 1948, and about a quarter of its land is protected in parks and reserves. Our Costa Rica puzzles show its volcanoes, rivers, coasts and a colourful toucan.

Whale’s Tail at Marino Ballena
Although it covers only a tiny part of the Earth's surface, Costa Rica holds around five percent of all the world's species of plants and animals. The keel-billed toucan, with its huge rainbow-coloured beak, lives in its lowland forests.
Arenal Volcano rises in a perfect cone above the northern plains, and in Tenorio National Park the Río Celeste runs a startling sky-blue colour, created by minerals in the water. On the Pacific coast, Manuel Antonio National Park combines forest and beaches, and at Marino Ballena a sandbar shaped like a whale's tail appears at low tide.
