About Njarðvík Bay in the East Fjords, Iceland

Njarðvík is a small, remote bay in the East Fjords of Iceland, on the road to the village of Borgarfjörður eystri. Green and brown mountains rise steeply around it, and only a few farms stand on its shore. The road beyond climbs along a steep slope above the sea, where, according to legend, a creature called Naddi once attacked travellers. A wooden cross was put up there, it is said in 1306, and a cross still stands by the road today.

Puzzle tip: the blue water and the rocks in front are the easiest part; the mountains and the sky come next.
