Iceland is a volcanic island in the North Atlantic, just south of the Arctic Circle, where glaciers, geysers and lava fields sit side by side. Our Iceland puzzles capture the northern lights over Kirkjufell and Lake Mývatn, a deep green canyon, snowy peaks and a quiet bay in the East Fjords.

The island lies on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, where two of the Earth's great plates are slowly pulling apart, which is why it has so many volcanoes and hot springs. In the long, dark nights from about September to April, particles from the sun meet the upper atmosphere and make the sky glow with moving curtains of green and purple light, the aurora borealis.
In the south, the river Fjaðrá winds through Fjaðrárgljúfur, a mossy canyon about 100 metres deep. In the east, small roads follow the fjords past bays such as Njarðvík, where steep mountains drop to the sea and few people live.
