About Central Golden Hall of Kofuku-ji, Nara

Kofuku-ji was moved to Nara in 710, the year the city became the capital, and it was the family temple of the powerful Fujiwara clan. Its Central Golden Hall burned down many times over the centuries; the building in this photo was completed in 2018, rebuilt in the style of the eighth century with vermilion pillars, white walls and a sweeping tiled roof. The temple also has a five-storey pagoda, one of the tallest in Japan.

Puzzle tip: start with the red pillars and white walls, then the grey roof and its golden ornaments, and finish with the sky.
