About Mossy Forest Path, Yakushima

The constant rain of Yakushima has covered its mountain forests in thick green moss, which grows over rocks, roots and fallen trees. Trails lead through these woods to ancient cedars, called yakusugi, and the most famous of them, the Jomon Sugi, is thought to be several thousand years old. The mossy forests are said to have inspired the animated film Princess Mononoke. In this photo a narrow path winds between twisted trunks and boulders, all wrapped in moss.

Puzzle tip: start with the path in the middle, then the mossy roots and stones, and finish with the dark trees above.
