About Yasaka Pagoda above the Rooftops of Kyoto

The Yasaka Pagoda, part of Hokan-ji temple, rises 46 metres above the old Higashiyama district of Kyoto, and its five storeys can be seen from many corners of the city. The present pagoda was built in 1440, after earlier ones were destroyed by fire. Around it the sloping lanes are lined with wooden shops and teahouses on the way to Kiyomizu-dera. This photo looks over the grey tiled roofs of the district to the dark pagoda, with the modern city and the hills behind.

Puzzle tip: start with the dark pagoda, then the tiled roofs in front, and finish with the city and the hills on the horizon.
