About A Bridge in Little Venice, Colmar

Half-timbered houses like those in Colmar were built with a frame of oak beams filled with clay, straw or brick and covered with plaster. Their upper floors often stick out over the street, because in the past taxes were sometimes charged on the size of the ground floor. In Little Venice the houses line both banks of the Lauch, and the small bridges are decorated with flower boxes from spring to autumn. Boats still take visitors along the canal. In this photo a stone bridge with red geraniums crosses the water between rows of timbered houses.

Puzzle tip: start with the bridge and the flowers, then the houses on both sides, and finish with the water and the sky.
