About The Old Harbour of Honfleur at Sunset

Honfleur is a small port in Normandy at the mouth of the river Seine. Its Old Basin was dug in the seventeenth century on the orders of Louis XIV's minister Colbert, and it is lined with tall, narrow houses, many covered in slate to protect them from the sea weather. From Honfleur explorers sailed to the New World, including Samuel de Champlain, who left from here in 1608 and founded Quebec City. In the nineteenth century painters came to paint its light, and it became a cradle of Impressionism. In this photo the houses and boats are mirrored in the basin under a pink evening sky.

Puzzle tip: start with the red fishing boat and the houses, then the masts, and finish with the reflections and the pink sky.
