About The Harbour and Old Town of Menton

Menton sits in a bay sheltered by mountains that rise steeply behind it, which keeps cold northern winds away and gives it one of the warmest winters in France. In the nineteenth century wealthy visitors from Britain and Russia came here for their health and built villas and gardens with exotic plants. The writer Jean Cocteau loved the town, and a museum of his work stands by the sea. In this photo the old harbour is full of white boats, and behind it the colourful houses and the bell tower of the basilica climb towards the mountains.

Puzzle tip: start with the bell tower and the colourful houses, then the white boats, and finish with the mountains and the sky.
