About The Basilica of Fourvière above Lyon

The Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière was built between 1872 and 1884 on the hill where Roman Lugdunum once stood, paid for by the people of Lyon in thanks to the Virgin Mary. With its four towers it is sometimes jokingly called the upside-down elephant. Its interior is covered in mosaics, marble and gold. Every year on 8 December the people of Lyon light candles in their windows in her honour, a tradition that grew into the Festival of Lights. This aerial photo shows the white basilica on its green hill, with the rooftops, rivers and bridges of Lyon spread out below.

Puzzle tip: start with the white basilica and its towers, then the green trees, and finish with the rooftops and the rivers.
