About Borobudur Temple, Java

Borobudur, in central Java, is the largest Buddhist temple in the world, built in the 8th and 9th centuries. It rises in nine stacked platforms, decorated with more than 2,600 relief panels and 500 Buddha statues, and topped by a great central stupa. Pilgrims walk around it clockwise, climbing towards the top. It was hidden under volcanic ash and jungle for centuries before being restored.

Puzzle tip: the stone terraces make clear bands, so work along each level; the sky and trees come last.
