About Trolltunga above Lake Ringedalsvatnet

Trolltunga, the Troll's Tongue, is a thin ledge of rock that sticks straight out from a mountain about seven hundred metres above the lake Ringedalsvatnet, in the Hardanger region of western Norway. It formed when water froze in the cracks of the rock during the ice age and broke away large pieces, leaving the tongue behind. Reaching it is one of the hardest popular hikes in Norway: about twenty-seven kilometres there and back, which takes ten to twelve hours. In this photo the tongue juts out over the deep blue lake, with grey mountains and patches of snow beyond.

Puzzle tip: start with the rock tongue in the front, then the blue lake, and finish with the far mountains and the clouds.
