About Sandstone Arch in the Tassili du Hoggar

South of the Hoggar Mountains, towards the border with Niger, lies the Tassili du Hoggar, a wide plateau of sandstone that wind and sand have carved into towers, mushrooms and arches over millions of years. Between the rocks, soft orange sand collects in valleys and dunes, and in the morning and evening the stone glows red and gold. The region is part of the Ahaggar Cultural Park, one of the largest protected areas in the world, which also guards prehistoric rock art and Tuareg traditions. In this photo a natural arch of weathered sandstone frames the sand beyond.

Puzzle tip: the dark rock on both sides gives strong edges; the smooth orange sand is the hardest part.
