Algeria Puzzles

Algeria is the largest country in Africa. It stretches from the green Mediterranean coast across the Atlas Mountains deep into the Sahara, which covers more than four-fifths of its land. Our Algeria puzzles visit the capital, Algiers, its Roman cities and the desert of the far south.

About Algeria

Phoenicians, Romans, Arabs and Ottomans all left their mark here, and in 1830 France conquered the country, which won its independence in 1962 after a long war. The Roman towns of Timgad and Tipasa, the Casbah of Algiers and the desert towns of the M'zab Valley are World Heritage Sites, and Constantine, high above a deep gorge, is known as the city of bridges.

In the south, the volcanic peaks of the Hoggar and the sandstone plateaus of the Tassili n'Ajjer rise from the sand, sheltering prehistoric rock art from the time when the Sahara was green.
